About Robert Osmond

I am a native of St.
John's, Newfoundland who has been interested in art since my
elementary school days,
but for one reason or another, I always found an excuse to put off
my creative talents.
On January 1, 2004, through the encouragement of family, namely my
wife and biggest fan Rhonda, I was persuaded to buy canvas and
paint. I have not looked back since.
I am self taught using the wet on wet technique made famous by the
late Bob Ross. My medium of choice is oil as oil is very
forgiving, and allows me to create as I go, however I am now
beginning to adventure into
acrylics and water colours. I especially enjoy painting on
black canvases as this allows
for the vibrant and bold colours than I like, which you can see from
my work.
My favourite subjects are nature scenes and Newfoundland out port
scenes. I see many inspirational possibilities for a new piece
every day as we live in one of the most beautiful and inspiring
places on earth for any artist.
I have been a member of the Art Associated of Newfoundland and
Labrador for the past two years and have displayed my work through
their shows held several times a year. Through these shows I
have received some
favourable reviews of my pieces from a well known fine art appraiser
Elizabeth Scammell Reynolds.
These pieces are currently for sale in my collection shown on this
site, namely " The Tree", " Rattling Brook"
and " The Fallen Soldier".
In addition to selling my art as a member of the Art Association of
Newfoundland and Labrador, my original works of art are also shown
on this website and can be ordered via the ' place order' link
above, or you can contact myself or my wife Rhonda at any time for ordering or other
information.
Thank You
Robert Osmond
